MongoDB GUI for versions 3+

MongoDB the Company recommends to always use the latest, stable version of MongoDB.
Starting with Sitecore XP 8.0 Update 5 Sitecore introduced the support for Mongo DB 3+. It turns out that there are breaking authentication changes in Mongo 3.0, which prevent older clients from connecting to MongoDB 3+. MongoDB 3.2 also requires Version 2.2 of .NET drivers.

If you would like to use current version of MongoDB 3.2 your Sitecore version must also include Version 2.2 of .NET drivers.
Finally, if you are using Sitecore 8.1+ and MongoDB 3.2+ your older MongoDB GUI may not be able to connect. While some current MongoDB GUIs don’t support version 3.2, I found that latest version of MongoChef works perfectly.

Friendly folks from 3T Software Labs GmbH have a free download and free version for Mac, Windows or Linux for noncommercial use. Please purchase the license if you end up using MongoChef MongoDB GUI commercially.
